The legend of Thien Cung Cave

The name “Thien Cung” or “Heavenly Palace” comes from a captivating local legend. The story tells of a Dragon King who lived in the cave long ago. After helping the people defeat invaders, he returned to his home. A severe drought struck the land one year, and the people sought the Dragon King’s help.

A brave young couple and their daughter, May, decided to find the Dragon King. As May grew into a beautiful young woman, she caught the eye of the Dragon Prince. They fell in love and had a grand wedding in the cave that lasted seven days and nights. The celebration was filled with magical creatures – flying dragons, dancing elephants and lions, and giant eagles.

The couple had 100 children, raising them in the cave. May would bathe her children in the cave’s three clean ponds. When the children grew up, half left with May to explore new lands, while the others stayed with their father to protect their home. This legend adds a layer of enchantment to the already magical atmosphere of Thien Cung Cave.
