Insightful Northwest Adventure 7 Days

Pick up at your hotel after breakfast. At 7:30 am, you say goodbye to bustling Hanoi and venture our way to the very northern tip of Vietnam – Ha Giang.

You stop en route for photo shooting at times when passing through many of the magnificent views along the way. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant after driving for about 4-5 hours.

After lunch, continue your drive about 2 hours further until Ha Giang’s arrival. Upon arrival, walk through villages to experience the life of local people (2 hours walk). Check in your hotel and relax.

This morning, you hike around the villages and through scenic rice terraces. During our hike, we take time to meet the local people at work, as they tend their seasonal crops and plow their paddies behind buffaloes.

Continue our journey to Dong Van which will be filled with spectacular landscapes in the form of a series of long passes. En route, you will stop for lunch at the small and beautiful mountain village of Tam Son.

Then you will visit the majestic “King of the H’mong Palace”, a fortress built by a local chief, Vuong Chin Duc, who allied himself with French forces against the Viet Minh. Built in the 1900s, this palace was designed in the style of ancient Chinese architecture dating to the Qing era, and it was made from materials such as solid stone blocks, wood, and terracotta tiles.

Keep your way to Dong Van, a beautiful town surrounded by limestone rock formations. Upon arrival, check-in your hotel and stay overnight in Dong Van.

After breakfast, around 7:30 am, make our way through the well-known mountain pass of Ma Pi Leng. The drive from Dong Van to Meo Vac will take about more minutes.

On the drive, there will be a stop halfway where you will walk about one and a half hours in the beautiful valley. The scenic journey up through rugged outcrops to the beautiful town of Meo Vac.

Set amongst towering mountains, Meo Vac is home to some H’mong and Bo Y and Tay farming families. Have lunch at a local restaurant. 

Get picked up by our tour guide and driver, then continue your way from Meo Vac to Quan Ba (nearly 4 hours drive)- Stop on your way to visit line-weaving Lung Tam village, where you see women are really dedicated to making beautiful line products.

This morning we take a hike into a nearby village and into the mountains, then onto Quan Ba Heaven Gate. The gate is the narrow slot between two peaks that is lowered and extended enough for the road to pass. Beautiful hiking trails and villagers greet us at Quan Ba.

The terrain features verdant and small hillocks, seasonal farmlands, and beautiful valleys and is home to Dao ethnic people. During our hike, we take time to meet the locals going about daily life.  

This is followed by our drive to Hoang Su Phi which takes about 5 hours. Arrive in Hoang Su Phi. Check in the lodge.

After breakfast, follow your guide’s lead on a beautiful trek through rice terraces, forests, and ethnic villages around Hoang Su Phi. Have lunch at a local house. Transfer to Bac Ha.

If today is Saturday or Sunday, we will get to see some of the most colorful markets in Bac Ha, such as Can Cau Market (Saturday) or Bac Ha Market (Sunday).

Continue to visit Hmong King Palace, which was built in the 20th century – a unique construction work, which harmonizes the Oriental and Western architectural styles.

Afternoon transfer to Sapa (3h drive). Check-in and free time to stroll around this bustling town.

Firstly, you will explore Sapa’s daily wet market and then set out on a 3 – 4 hour trek down to Muong Hoa Valley. Travel through the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van, home to the H’mong and Dzay people.

The amazing view from the walk with local tribal people on the way makes your experience authentic indeed. Have lunch along the way.

Back to the main road, where your vehicle is waiting to take you back to Hanoi on a 5-hour drive. Arrive in Hanoi by 21:00 and drop off at your requested point. End services.
